Blue Sky Adventures
I have a fear of heights, but for some reason I feel the need to test it. Setting my fear aside, I climbed aboard an ultra-modern helicopter with Anaheim Helicopters and, through the clear Southern California sky, experienced the most unforgettable way to tour Orange County.
Our pilot was Jake, a helicopter veteran and knew his way the around the sky. As he zoomed past famous Orange County landmarks and the majestic Santa Ana Mountains, he told some celebrity sighting stories and pointed out places I’d never seen from this vantage point, and I was in awe. We flew over the picturesque Orange County coastline, past the rough coast of Laguna Beach, the massive yachts in Newport Harbor and past the iconic Huntington Beach Pier. Before we knew it, we landed gently back at Fullerton Airport. We covered so much ground from the mountains to the ocean in so little time; it was almost like time travel!
For the true thrill-seeker, next on my list is SkyThrills. Flying in a 1930s-style biplane is like something out of a movie. Here you can strap into a world-class aerobatic stunt plane and have a exhilarating experience unlike any other, from the short and sweet "intro" profile to the over-the-top "World Aerobatic Champion." And no pilot's license or prior flight experience is necessary to fly! From basic maneuvers to unlimited thrills, they have it all, if you’re game. Perhaps just a fun sky tour in an open air beauty is your speed…fly past the Hollywood sign, the historic Queen Mary ocean liner or even take a day trip over to Catalina Island and back…remember, the sky IS the limit!
For the romantics in the crowd, there is nothing like Sunset Flying. Here you’ll fly in comfort and cruise the sky with the twinkling lights of Orange County and LA below, and in some cases the fireworks in the sky. If you’re an early bird they also have sunrise tours, and there is nothing like seeing the vibrant colors of the morning come to life from the sky. And don’t forget that champagne toast to celebrate the moment!
These are truly once in a lifetime adventures that I think should be on everyone’s list!
