Winter Camps for Kids
The winter break is upon us! Are your kids already over their new toys and gadgets? Looking for something to occupy their time off from school? You’re in luck as there are tons of winter camps available in Orange County.
Budding actors will love these day camps:
Arts & Learning Conservatory will offer artists workshops covering acting techniques, dance and crafts. Campers will work with themes from "The Grinch," "Polar Express" and "Alvin & the Chipmunks." Ages 6 – 12 welcomed, $50 per day or $75 for two days. January 2 – 3, 2014.
The Center Stage Studio will offer two camp sessions in late December. Your budding stars will focus on dance, character building, costumes and more from Disney’s summer hit “Teen Beach Movie.” Appropriate for coed performers 7 – 12 years. $225 per camper, extended care available.
Sporty kids who want a challenge:
Learn some ice hockey fundamentals at Irvine Inline. Campers will learn both dry land and ice techniques in these two-day camps. December 26 – 27, 2013 and January 2 – 3, 2014. Camp price starts at $99.

Do your kids like to skateboard? Get them the proper training and techniques from experienced skaters at Vans Skatepark. Two holiday skate clinics will be offered on December 14 and December 21, 2013. Appropriate for ages 6 – 12. Starting at $40 (lunch is provided), and registration is recommended.

For the animal lover:
Bridges Equestrian will offer one-day camps, starting at $150 per day throughout December and January. Campers will groom and ride horses, participate in clinics and other hands-on activities. Appropriate for 8 – 13 year olds.

Just outside of Orange County is the amazing Aquarium of the Pacific. Three-day camps will be offered in early January 2014 for $150 per child. Campers will explore cold-water habitats and polar bears through crafts, animal observations, animal touch and more. Registration is highly recommended.

For busy hands:
Get your sew on at Fashion Camp. Two locations, Tustin and Mission Viejo, will offer half- and full-day sewing camps. Half-day camps include creating items such as infinity scarves, embellishing t-shirts and more. Full-day camps include sewing machine work and campers must be 8 years old. Fees start at $49 and most include materials. Registration is required.
Need something closer to home? Check out your local YMCA. The Y will offer full-day camps from December 23 – January 3, 2014. Campers will participate in cooking, arts and crafts, science experiments, teambuilding projects, field trips and service learning programs. Find the YMCA in your OC community here.
