Time seems to slow and smiles come more readily when you step on the grounds at Manaserro Farms. Even though it’s conveniently located near freeways in the middle of Irvine, none of OC’s typical hustle and bustle touches the spirit when you are on the farm.

Surrounded by acres of farmland, the large red barn draws you in, along with the scent of freshly picked fruits and vegetables handsomely displayed in baskets under the covered patio. I browse through the organic strawberries and summer squashes, imagining meals that I could make my family.

On a special tour with co-owner Anne Manaserro, she points out the carefully curated specialty oils and vinegars, jams and preserves, homemade pastas and breads, spreads and dips handmade lotions and creams. Most everything is made locally with the finest ingredients and utmost care and attention.

As I try the samples of delectable bites of foods and rub divinely smelling cream to the back of my hand, Anne proudly tells us how her husband Dan, a third generational farmer, and his family have been providing the OC with fresh produce since 1922. She bursts with enthusiasm and delight for their farms and the business they have created in a community they love. She wheels out one of the vegetable displays to show how they make room for the many cooking demos and cooking and mixology classes. 

As I stroll over to several raised beds where guests are invited to pick their own herbs, Anne describes a recent class where the chef encouraged participants to choose their own combination of fresh herbs to create a rub for the steak they would be preparing. Creativity is encouraged. 

A large tent provides a beautiful setting for private events, such as birthdays, unique business meetings, bridal and baby showers, rehearsal dinners or just about anything you can think of!

It’s also home to Breakfast in the Barn, held on the first Saturday of the month. This unique event features the best of our local produce and culinary creations from the area’s most prestigious and renown chefs.

The next Breakfast in the Barn will be September 13 with Chef Yves Fournier of Andrei's Irvine, which will surely be a culinary adventure to delight the senses.

 Come on down to the barn for breakfast – your tummy will thank you.
